Terms of use
Effective date: November 7, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Hausbound, LLC about using the Principlanner website, its free tools and the Principlanner apps. By using Principlanner, you agree to them.
The short version
- Principlanner is for parents. Only a parent or another adult 18 or older can create an account. Children never have an account.
- Your family's records belong to your family, and you can download everything at any time, even after a plan ends.
- Paid plans start with a 14-day free trial with no card. Annual and monthly plans renew automatically unless you turn renewal off, and we email you before every renewal.
- A purchase made on our website can be refunded in full if you ask within 14 days. Purchases in the App Store or Google Play follow Apple's or Google's refund rules.
- Our state pages are general information, not legal advice. Your family is responsible for reconfirming the requirements with your state and for following your state's law.
Who we are
Principlanner is operated by Hausbound, LLC, 1300 Rt 17 North Ste 1, Ramsey, NJ 07446. You can reach us by email at support@principlanner.com or by phone at (201) 785-7309. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Hausbound, LLC, and "you" means the person using Principlanner.
Accounts and children
- Only a parent or another adult 18 or older can create a Principlanner account, and the account holder is responsible for it. You can sign in with email, Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in.
- A parent can invite a second parent, who has their own login and accepts these terms and our privacy policy for themselves.
- Children are profiles a parent adds. Children never sign in, never have an account and have no screen made for them. A child's records are kept only under a parent's account and with that parent's agreement.
- An evaluator or umbrella school can see records only through a read-only link a parent creates. They do not get an account.
- Please keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us at support@principlanner.com if you think someone else has used your account.
Your family's privacy
Our privacy policy explains what we keep, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and how to delete it. It is part of these terms, and it governs how we handle your family's information. The link is at the end of these terms.
Using Principlanner fairly
Please use Principlanner only for its purpose: planning your homeschool and keeping your family's records. You agree not to:
- break the law, or use Principlanner to harm a child or anyone else;
- enter records you know are false in a document you give to a school, an evaluator or a state;
- try to get into another family's account, records, calendar link or evaluator link;
- copy, resell or republish the apps, the site or its content, except sharing your own family's records and the free trackers and tools for their purpose;
- interfere with the site or the apps, overload them, or use automated tools to scrape them.
Free tools, trials and paid plans
- The free tools, such as the state pages, trackers, the year planner and the transcript maker, are free and need no account or email address.
- A new account starts with a 14-day free trial. No card is needed, and the trial never turns into a paid plan by itself.
- Principlanner offers annual and monthly plans for the whole family. Before you buy, one screen shows the price, the renewal date, the refund terms and how to cancel. The price is the same on our website, in the App Store and in Google Play. Sales tax is added to website purchases where it applies.
- Annual and monthly plans renew automatically by default, and the purchase screen says so with the interval and amount. On the website you can turn renewal off, and back on, in Settings at any time.
- We email you before every renewal, annual and monthly, with the date, the amount and how to cancel.
- You can cancel at any time. On the website it takes two clicks from Settings. A plan bought in the App Store or Google Play is canceled in that store, and the app links straight to the store's subscription page.
- If a plan ends, your family's records become read-only: you can still read and download all of them for as long as the account exists. A plan ending never deletes anything.
- Purchases are available only to customers in the United States.
Refunds
- A purchase made on our website can be refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of the purchase. Email support@principlanner.com from the address on your account.
- Refunding the first payment of a subscription also ends the subscription. Each later renewal can be refunded in full if you ask within 14 days of that renewal's charge.
- Purchases made through the App Store or Google Play follow Apple's or Google's refund rules, and you ask Apple or Google for the refund.
- After a refund ends a plan, your records stay read-only and downloadable, as above.
Your family's records
The records you enter, such as plans, attendance, hours, grades, portfolio files and transcripts, belong to your family. We use them only to run Principlanner for you, as our privacy policy describes. You can download everything at any time, on every plan and after a plan ends.
Records Principlanner prepares, such as report cards, transcripts and state record outputs, are records prepared by your family, not a filing. You are responsible for what you enter and for checking a document before you give it to anyone.
The site, the apps, their design and our written content belong to Hausbound, LLC. You may use them for your own family's homeschool.
State pages are not legal advice
Our state pages, trackers, year planner and the app's state screens show what each state's official sources say, with links to those sources and the date we last checked them. They are general information, not legal advice, and we do not tell you whether your family meets your state's law.
Your family is responsible for reconfirming these requirements with your state and for following your state's law. Sources can change between our checks; when a page shows that a source changed or a check is overdue, rely on the official source.
United States only
Principlanner is offered only to families in the United States.
Deleting your account and ending these terms
- You can stop using Principlanner at any time, and download your records first.
- A parent can delete one child's records at any time. A parent can also leave the family, which removes only their own login and keeps the family's records.
- When a parent asks to delete the whole account, everything is erased 30 days later unless the request is stopped. If the family has another parent with a login, that parent is told and can agree or stop it. Signing in during those 30 days lets you cancel the request. We email a confirmation when the erasure is done.
- Deleting the account does not cancel a plan bought in the App Store or Google Play. We show you if it will renew and link you to the store to cancel it.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts a child or another family at risk. If we do, we will tell the account holder by email, unless the law does not allow it.
Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Principlanner accurate and working, but we provide it "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including any implied promise that Principlanner will suit a particular purpose, will always be available or will be free of errors.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, Hausbound, LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, such as lost data, lost time or a decision made from a state page, that come from using Principlanner. Our total liability for any claim about Principlanner is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if you paid nothing. Some states do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have that the law does not let us limit.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey. If you have a problem, please contact us first at support@principlanner.com; most issues can be solved that way.
Any dispute about these terms or Principlanner goes to the state or federal courts in Bergen County, New Jersey. Either side may use small claims court where the claim qualifies. There is no arbitration requirement and no class-action waiver in these terms.
Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change matters to how you use or pay for Principlanner, we will also tell account holders by email or in the app before it takes effect.
